Somebody Come and Play---Review and Giveway!

Let me happily begin with a twin-confirmed clarification: 7 is not too old to appreciate the lessons, friendships and music of Sesame Street. As a matter of fact, 43 is not too old to appreciate the lessons, friendships and music of Sesame Street!

Darren and Sarah (and I) were fortunate enough to be sent a review copy of Putamayo Music's latest, Sesame Street Playground. Like Putamayo's other offerings, Sesame Street Playground introduces us to musical tracks of cultures other than our own; but this time, the connective thread is the tunes are all from the various international incarnations of the beloved children's program.

Since the CD's acquisition, repeatedly I find myself singing "Galli Galli Sim Sim," Sesame Street's catchy open in India. Equally "hooking" is "En Den Dino," a duet between one of the characters on Israel's version of the show, along with popular singer, Ronnie Rock.

The CD contains 13 lively Sesame selections, from 12 different countries. As if that weren't enticing enough, a DVD comes with the CD, including five video segments corresponding to five of the songs -- you can enjoy with or without captions.

Sarah's favorite track, "Ricas Frutas" by the characters of Mexico's Plaza Sesamo along with Aleks Syntek, spurs an exuberant dance with its every -- and typically repeated -- playing.

And Darren? He may have a future role in a boy band as he is fond of singing "The Song of the Caretakers," sung by Na-Na on Russia's Ulitza Sesam.

Putamayo Kids' Sesame Street Playground is hands-down a 5-star winner in our home, our car and and our DVD player. The title officially goes on-sale this Tuesday, September 30th.

Would you like to WIN a copy? The generous crew from Putamayo sent us not one, but TWO copies -- one for us to review, and one to give away!

Leave a comment with the title of your (or your kids!) favorite Sesame Street song, and you'll be entered to win*!

My 16 year old son (who is reading over my shoulder here) INSTANTLY piped up with, "Rubber Ducky," of course! lol Frances is just learning the opening theme song actually so I think that's hers at the moment, and of course (being the froggie person I am) I like, "It's Not Easy Being Green."

There ya go, three answers for tonight. lol

And I love the picture of Sarah dancing.... She's so cute! :)

Jordan and I love "Elmo's Song." (You know, "I love to sing, la la la la, Elmo's song...") I bet Suzi will too. We need to play it for her! I just HATE how they took an adorable little thing like Elmo and made him so darn annoying by making him into a toy that does the chicken dance, hokie pokie, etc.

What a great idea! Sounds like a fun collection of songs and who doesn't love Sesame Street? My two love Elmo and love to sing and dance...they'd love this!

My favorite favorite favorite Sesame Street song of ALL TIME is "Happy birthday to you from Sesame Street."

It's only available on one record. It is not available on the internet anywhere. Jon's birthday is the day before mine and every year, I sing it to him and he always jokes the song does not exist.

I then had my mom play her record (yes she still has a record player) and TAPE IT to send to my house!!!

My son loves Sesame Street and it's one of my favs too. As I type, my son is playing with his sesame street toy that sings the Elmo song, Rubber Duckie, C is for Cookie, and 'I love trash' courtesy of Oscar, of course. His all-time favorite song that he watches on my phone on YouTube almost daily is 'My Triangle'. It's a song sung by James Blunt and Telly to the tune of 'you're beautiful'. James dances around our house singing it ALL the time and will eat almost any food we give him if it's cut up in triangles. He picks them up and sings 'my triangle, my triangle, my triangle, it's true. I saw your shape in a crowded place, now I don't know what to do...oh triangle, where are you?' check it out on YouTube! I can't cut and paste cuz I'm on my iPhone, but search James Blunt sesame street, my triangle. :) sorry for such a long comment!

Oh, Elmo's song all the way! You should see how fast Connor and Paige's heads snap to attention when that comes on!

LOL, well...as you can see from one of my posts today that the Ladybug picnic is on my iPod, I'll have to list that as one. (Although I secretly like the Alligator King, and Ten Tiny Turtles as well - and yes, those are on my iPod too).

My kids' favorite is probably the Honker Duckie Dinger Jamboree. Or Put Down the Duckie.

And I'm pretty sure I know that song you like...the Galli Galli Sim Sim one...I think we used to sing that in Girl Scouts.

Sesame Street kicks butt. Cool give away!

We totally love Snuffy so of course love the Cloud song that he sings. We abused and overused the poor Rubber Duckie song during the early days when bathing was not a treat to the twins like it is now!

Okay, my kids don't have a favorite song, they only care about 'Mo' (Elmo)

Mine get all excited when they hear, "Sunny days, sweeping the clouds away..." They try to sing it and sway back and forth. The love oh-mo (elmo) too!

OH! How fun would this be for all the kiddies in my house!!!

Hmm, favorite song.....
For Emma it's Lady Bug Picnic
For Will it's Jelly Man Kelly

Has to be 'Elmo's World'. My twin girls get so giggly and excited when they see Elmo. They are soooo cute when they say, La La La La Elmo's World, they almost sound like Elmo themselves. Not bad for 2 year olds!

I love "Sing, Sing a Song." My twins love the theme song from Elmo's World. When they hear it, they jump up and down, sing along, dance and then run back to their chairs when the song is over so that they don't miss a second of Elmo's World.
