Oh, how I sang that song when tandem nursing, and after our visit to the fair's The Big Red Barn (sow with litter included), I was reminded why.
Can I declare right now that seven is the perfect age to take twins to the state fair? Of course we've taken them close to every year since they were three or so, but last night was just parental perfection. Double Daddy and I could stay a few steps behind and watch the glee as the two of them animatedly got in line over and over and over for the centrifugal force fun aboard the quickly spinning, strobe light accompanied Himalaya...
Down the super fun slide a la Banana Splits...
They rode the carousel...
The mini-airplanes...
and the Ferris wheel...all by themselves.
Corndogs.Burgers. Freshly squeezed lemonade. Double Daddy even won an oversized purple monkey by squirting water at a target more accurately and expeditiously than any of the other barker-roused entrants -- including the three other Lages.
[For anyone who knows me in real life, try not to faint dead away that I somehow resisted funnel cakes, elephant ears, deep-fried Three Musketeers bars and chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick.]Next year, the state fair moves two counties away. In all likelihood, last night was the last Lage foray to the annual event. The outlay of money for the evening was exhorbitant, but the memories, priceless.

We went to a fair this weekend too and I totally have no pictures! I only took like 5 and they were all ....ehhh. I just might have to go this weekend again just for the pix.

We hit up an obscene number of fairs every year and the kids love it every time. So glad you had a great night. And jealous your fair runs so late in the season. much better than the 100 degree state fair we have!
The Himalaya was always my all time favorite. Congrats on getting to a point in your life with kids where something like this is actually fun instead of ridiculously hard:)

Your kids are just so darling! They're always so cute to look at. lol Sorry to hear your fair is moving away though. :( And just when your kiddos are getting to the "easy" and "fun" stages for the fair.
