Way Back When-esday: Wind Beneath Their Wings

Dateline: July 2005
Twins' Age: 3 and a half

She may be hard to see, but snuggly wrapped in the purple washcloth in Grandma Ross' hands is Ruthie, her vibrantly colored lovebird.

Naurally, visits to Grandma's are always special, but this one in particular will always stand out in my memory. The kids gently rubbed Ruthie's head, and got to "talk" to her outside the confines of her cage. Both were beside themselves with joy. From the looks of the photos, Grandma was, too.

Have you got a picture or story from "Way Back" you'd like to share? Join in the Way Back When-esday webwide photo album. Be sure to link back here to Twinfatuation so we can all take part in the reverie!

Look at Sarah's cute little haircut. :) And I love when kids are so fascinated with an animal like that. Just precious.

And "coonskin" - I couldn't for the life of me think of that word last night when I was doing my post. That shows you how many brain cells I'm working off of these days. I changed it in my blog. Thank you!

Hope you guys are doing well and staying healthy and all that good stuff.

Hugs!

OK. Confession time. I read way too fast and misread things. I read, "snuggly wrapped in the purple washcloth in Grandma Ross' hands is Ruthie, her" vibrator. Well, you can imagine my surprise. I think your son's expression pretty much sums it up.
In actuality, the post is lovely and I am sure they did enjoy the bird.

So fun! I remember a time when I was visiting my gma and gpa on their farm and they bought my brother and me each a little teeny chick. We cared for them all summer. Funny, though, they were gone the next summer...???

Cute story and pics!

Ahhh, I can see the joy! We have a cockatiel, and my kids are just now old enough to appreciate her (let alone any pet really) And we've had this same scene play out in our house, only with me, not grandma. Bet it would be more fun with grandma!!!!

And you're welcome for the comments! I meant every word!

The war thing, they teach it at school as part of math, in a "which is bigger, which is smaller" type setting, and the kids pick up on it. And of course when you meet that match, and have to lay out your three cards you just hear the giggles. Its rather fun!!

Thanks for your comment!
