Dateline: February 2004
Sarah's Age: 2 Years
[it was Darren's age, too]
Taken exactly 5 years ago, this picture encapsulates so many facets of that February. The little rocking horse was a longtime favorite. The potty (and one just like it) were moved all around our home in those "mastering the moves" days. The holiday photo cards around the entry to our dining room have always been one of the last decorations to be dismantled...and clearly, in 2004, I was very reluctant to remove them. Perhaps most notably, the fact that our little 3% weight curve (until age 5) girl appears to have chubby cheeks here ...and a smile, while wearing pigtails (verboten now) and heaven forbid, a princess dress. She who for as long as I can remember has assessed princesses as "okay for other people, I just don't like them," and who at two proudly professed black as her favorite color...this image just makes me laugh.

Oh, Cheryl! She looks just like a princess! Such a petite little beauty, and aren't pigtails seriously the most awesome thing to do to a toddler girl's hair? Allison is very patient with me trying all kinds of girly hairdos on her (on most days).
Oh what a cutie! Really, was black her favorite? And may my 3% baby also become heavier some time.
a perfect princess. I hope you have another good day today!
Dear Princess with pigtails,
You are too cute for words...but the photo says it all.
Around here, there is nothing pink, fluffy, cute, or girly to be seen. It's all footballs, tonka trucks, and smelly sneakers.
So that's why this photo of you made me smile.
Have a great princessy-day.
Awwww what a sweetie.
Love the rocking horse too
Love the pigtails & princess dress! And those chubby cheeks are just too precious!!!
What a cutie! Hard to imagine that little pretty in pink thing declaring black as her favorite color. Kids crack me up:)
what a cute picture. Love the pigtails & princess dress!
Aw, pigtails! :-) I can't wait till my daughter grows some hair, lol.
What a sweet picture! I have pictures of my dd(4) just like this b/c it's so rare that she wants to be a princess... skeletons, dinosaurs and dogs are much more her style!
Really? 3%? Those cheeks are so sweet! What a great little face, and I love the princess dress.
So funny that black is her favorite now.
What a great picture of her!!! Definatly one to hold onto for later years in life when times get tough and you wish for a glimps of that little princess again!!! This one put a smile on my face! Thank you!!!
What an adorable pic! She looked so happy. Don't you wish you could bring back those days, sometimes?
Take care & smile! ;0)
What a cutie! I love putting my little ones hair in pigtails too! :)
I can't wait until my Sarah's hair is long enough for all out pig tails! I can 'just' get them in now- but its work to split up the wee bit of hair she has now.
Precious little princess!
Oh that's wonderful!! I love the chubby cheeks :)
So cute! Love the pigtails!
adorable! :)
Adorable Cheryl! At least you have one pic of her as a definite princess and when she swears she never wore anything like that, just whip out this pic.
What a sweetie....
How cute is she!? Love the princess dress. She only wears black now? I guess that will be a phase we'll all go through with our kids soon huh? Oh no!
oooh! The princess outfit is the cutest. Can't wait til Breelyn can wear hers. And love the pigtails
Happy Whensday!!
OH HOW CUTE is she!!!! LOVE the smile and the excitement! It's so clearly visable!
