When a seven-year-old throws a gauntlet my 44-year-old way, out of sheer respect for the youthfully exuberant, overly confident, upstart nature, I typically accept the challenge.
No chess or jumprope this go 'round, Sarah's most recent call to competition: Crayola crayons.
Extracting two randomly selected pages from a Curious George (one of my personal favorites, making a declination of the duel even less-likely) coloring book, she whispered her plan out of ear shot and sight line of her book-absorbed brother. We each color the sheet to the best of our ability (she made a point to tell me not to sign my work). Upon the pages' completion, they'd be shown to the objective arbiter, Darren.

Haha, too fun. I like it and Curious George is one of the favorites monkey of my girls.
Congrats to the winner but kudos to her fierce competitor.
Awesome shirt too!!!
Sarah is just too cute! What a fun idea to have that contest and must say, you both colored beautiful photos :)
That is such a cool idea! And love her Tshirt! LOL!
What a great coloring contest idea! As I read, I thought that you colored the winning picture but as I slowly scrolled down - Sarah was the winner! She is a great artist!!!! Congrats Sarah!
Oooh! I love to color and can't wait for my own contests. :)
I bet seeing how excited Sarah was to be proclaimed the legitimate winner made it worth losing for you...you're a good mommy like that.
So sorry for your loss.
:)
very cute! and what a good sport you are mama!
I actually still color all the time...it's a great stress reliever for me. Though I do look forward to when Sydney asks to do it too!
Sarah's talent shines through once again! Hope your ego wasn't too bruised by the loss :-)
She is just so talented!
Not only can she color, she's got broad tastes in music ;) LOVE the shirt!!!
That's a fun contest idea! Might have to try that with the kids this week- they'd love it!
That's my kind of smackdown! Aren't crayons the greatest? Except when they end up on my walls...
Oh so cute Cheryl! (The coloring & the kiddos) I think it is really cool (and very sweet) that she thought up this competition and decided to have her brother as the judge. It's usually the siblings going head to head, then Mommy has to choose. lol
