Self-composed artists' statements will be available for those perusing the works. For those who won't be in town, here's a taste, times two:
Sarah is an eight-year-old second grader who likes spending time with her horse and enjoys shopping at Target. She likes drawing with crayons or markers. This is her second year participating in Arts on the Grove, and she'd be happy to draw your portrait for a dollar.
Darren is an eight-year-old second grader who loves to paint, color and write. He loves animals and always wants to be "It" while playing tag.His favorite artists are Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and Frank Stella. You can see Stella's influence in some of Darren's work.
This is his second year participating in Arts on the Grove. He'd be happy to draw a picture of you for a dollar. A portion of Darren's profits will benefit the Central Virginia Food Bank.
[*The CVFB will be getting a portion of profits from the festival as a whole...apparently just not from Sarah.]
The kids' personal paragraphs and a lot of artwork are Finished for Friday. Go see more of the week's completions at Lit & Laundry!

These are the first up-close pictures I have seen in a while and, man, you have some grown-up kids. Does it bring a tear to your eye? Because it does to mine. Seeing your eight-year-olds from when I started following you when they were six-year-olds. Goodness, they have grown and changed so much. And they are both so very very handsome and beautiful.
They both look so adorable and what a great cause! I just LOVE that your kids are involved. Good for them (and you!)
Would your kids be willing to draw a picture of my kids for a donation to their cause?
I tell you , your kids are so cool! And so cool that you get them involved in events like this
I love this idea....may steal it.
Oh do let us know how wonderful it is!
Fabulous! And I too, am impressed with how grown up your kids look in these pictures.
Thanks for joining in!
Okay, so do you all accept checks, visa, or paypal? I would love a Sarah & Darren print!
Your kids are the coolest! I can not wait to see what beautiful masterpieces they have created!
