Seriously. Really. You're Not Kidding.

Maybe it's the pro-wrestling fan in me...always up for a fun faux battle. Maybe it's an inborn desire to balance points and counterpoints. Maybe it's a sense of righteous indignation at what I perceive to be losers lauded when pluperfect products and people go seemingly unsung.

After pondering the acquisition of "Overrated.com," decided to simply toss the dross out there for your validation---or vitriol.

Without further ado, here are ten things----that in my heretofore squelched opinion are----unrightly revered:

Grey's Anatomy

Great Lash mascara

P.F. Chang's lettuce wraps

Victoria's Secret undergarments (upper and lower)

Keith Olberman

scream-free parenting

Discuss amongst yourselves. Defend your favorites. Join me in open derision of agreed upon---or unmentioned above---duds. Next time---since I am all about the yin for the yang---we'll do underrated.com. Stir the pot, stir the pot.... ;)

Hmm. I agree with most, except the ipod thing. I thnk you're really trying to stir the pot on this one:) I think my ipod is my only possession that, I would shed actual tears if something happened to it. I use it every day, for running, playing music for the kids, and I fall asleep to audiobooks on it every night. But I realize I am not exactly normal, so maybe you are right:)

Ummm....ach...ahem...I just...I have no words...I am going to go crawl into bed at the thought of you not liking the things above. All of them...well, except V.S.'s stuff. Well, and MySpace, and Keith. Ummm...that is all.

The only item on your list that I would even think of disagreeing with you on is "watermelon" (but, only when it's really, really ripe and yummy)

Thanks for the giggle (at 1am!)

I don't watch much TV but I am a faithful Grey's follower! And while I'm not always faithful to brand...mascara is one of my Must Haves in my make up bag. Right now...Vicki's sounds 'heavenly' - but then again anything thats NOT a nursing bra does! LoL!

I WILL agree with you on MySpace...prefer Facebook hands down! and I don't have an IPod either...and *gasp* neither do my kids! LOL!

Trying to stir up a little controversy huh? Good, I like topics to discuss.
I LOVE Grey's. I have not always been a follower but I love it now. The male doctors are nice to look at too!!!
Not a Myspace fan at all!
Scream-free parenting totally over-rated! Ha!
Love your post!

I don't watch any tv, so I've never seen Grey's Anatomy. Frappucinos are just silly. I don't listen to Coldplay.

I wasn't an ipod person until
Goddess in Progress pointed out that you can store your entire cd collection on one. Now that I have one and have loaded my hundreds of (mostly classical) cds, I absolutely love mine. I make my own playlists and then play it through speakers while I'm sewing or doing whatever. I also listen to audiobooks, which is a delicious form of multitasking.

If watermelon disappeared tomorrow, I'd never miss it, and my kids will tell you I'm not all about scream-free parenting.

Fun post.

I will address each, for anyone who cares...
Grey's Anatomy: Don't watch, never have, don't care

Great Lash mascara:don't care

P.F. Chang's lettuce wraps:PF Changs is one of the worst places you can eat. Should be called PF Sodium

Victoria's Secret undergarments (upper and lower)
You're nuts. It's ALL good and when I walk in, they know and address me by name. Seriously, they do.

MySpace: Great for those folks who live in their parent's basement with no one to play Risk or Stratego with.

Keith Olberman:Sucked on ESPN, sucks worse now. A bitter bitter man who needs prayer.

scream-free parenting:I don't know what this is.

Frappucinos:I spend far too much on Venti Java Chip Lite Frappucinos with no whip but extra chips on top. Again, another establishment that knows and addresses me by name, and usually has my "usual" made before I get to the register.

iPods:You're insane. Must be on my person at all times. Essential musis, scripture, video and pictures of my family.

watermelon:A nutricious superfood. Eat it often.

I have spoken.

ahhhh, the ONLY craving I have had this whole pregnancy, even though I would never buy it before....so I have to disagree with you there!.

Grey's...well, it's my guilty pleasure.

IPods...really love mine but mianly because of the Nike+ feauture.....it's what got me into running!

Hear ya on the Frapuccinos.

Bwa-ha-ha-ha! LOVE this post!! I have often thought I am the only person on the face of the earth to think some of these things are overrated.

Grey's: cannot get into it. CANNOT. They are all too whiny.

Great Lash: It's just ok.

PF Chang's: we don't have one near us and I've never tried it, so I guess I can't comment on this one.

VS: their undergraments NEVER fit properly. Unless you weigh two pounds and have perfectly even breasts. Have I said too much?

MySpace: blech

Keith Olberman: double blech

scream free parenting: do people really do this? really? I want names.

frappuccinos: I don't like cold coffee, except coffee ice cream, so these are not my fave

Coldplay: my sister loves them. I think they're ok.

iPods: they can be fun and convenient, but I was just as happy without one in the house. I find that happens a lot with me and technology.

watermelon: it's good in the summer when it's ripe. Otherwise, no thanks.

Can't wait for the "underrated" list!

PS: please excuse all the spelling errors. I blame it on the lack of (HOT) coffee this morning! :)

Great post! I totally agree on most things, especially Grey's, watermelon, MySpace, Great Lash and V.S. However, I've been know to indulge in a Frappucino once in a while.

Loved reading the other comments as well.

While I would miss my iPod should it disappear, the brand/product itself is highly overrrated.

Now- watermelon? Who overrates watermelon? Is there a huge watermelon fan base somewhere?

In any case, watermelon is delightful... Everything else can go!

Okay... I agree on VS underwear, Lettuce wraps, MySpace, Keith Olberman, and Coldplay.

Jury is still out for me on Great Lash and Scream-Free. Trying to get through the book. Wish it was geared more to parents with young kids.

I love me some Grey's Anatomy. Also LOVE my Frappucinos, but not paying for them.

I covet Ipods, mainly because my crappy little MP3 player isn't currently cutting it... and the identical one I bought for my husband broke, so he stole mine.
Again, the price is an issue for me.

And watermelon I can take in small doses. I like to eat it... but dislike watermelon scented or flavored things.

Ha! Love this. I have been screamed at before by a group of women for not watching "Grey's," as they called it, which I've never even seen. Yeah, they screamed at me when they found out. I'd say that is evidence enough that indeed yes, it is highly overrated.

Never understood the deal with Coldplay.

Watermelon is awesome but ohmygosh it's so much work! Have you ever had to remove the seeds from not only yours but the slices of your two kids as well? I'm sure you have, and I'm pretty sure that's why it's on your list:)

Frappucinos are stupid and my VS undies are giving me a perpetual wedgie today...

beth - total mom haircut said...

Oh, and I've never actually been to PF Chang's, which, I have always had a feeling, is grossly overrated...please don't scream at me.

Rebecca said...

V.S. undergarments? Overrated??? I think not.

Never been to PF Chang's, but don't think I would get the lettuce wraps on principal (although I would share them with a friend).

I would have died to see Facebook on there ;)

monica said...

I love Grey's that is not overrated!! The rest I don't really care about!!

Tracy said...

Well, I was agreeing with you all the way until I got to the last two. I LOVE my Ipods. No, that's not a typo. I have three. Yes, that much. I got my first one six years ago(it's so old I never use it anymore), got my first Shuffle as soon as they came out (for running...it was lighter than the old Ipod) and got the Nano when those came out. I mostly use my Nano now, and it is one of my "happy things." Can't imagine not having one.

And watermelon? Prior to E&R's arrival, I could care less for the stuff, but seeing as how it is one of their favorites, and they are so darn happy and cute (if I do say so) eating it, I no longer would agree. In fact, it just may be underrated. :)

Now I can't wait for your next list!

Tracey said...

Oh you've got the crowd fired up now! Too funny!!
With you on the Vicky Secret junk, the scream free concept, Coldplay, Keith, My Space and Grays...the rest I must attest I do indulge in...

Laura said...

Lettuce wraps...yum.
Grey's Anatomy..eh

Laura said...

I missed that.
Are you hormonal?

Nancy said...

LOL! I love Laura :)

Anyway...you are too funny. Stirring up the pot like this. I'd agree with everything except the iPod. I listen to mine every single day. Plugged into my car, plugged into my speakers while working...all the time :) I get bored of listening to the same musician/band/type of music over and over...so putting allllll of my music on my iPod and hitting "shuffle" is totally the way to go.

Terra said...

OK I LOVE the lettuce wraps at changs...so I have to take that off the list...sorry!!!!

Jennifer said...

I love the lettuce wraps. But you have to have them with the sauce made correctly. Otherwise, they are overrated.

cat said...

Off course, some of these are not known to me from the backwoods of the world. But no, my Ipod is actually one of my favorite favorites. And I do not miss an episode of Greys. Coldplay, well, I used to love but the songs are all starting to sound the same.

cat said...

Oh gosh yes, Watermelon! Ours over here are stunnig. I once ate half a huge one (ok I was 34 weeks pregnant at the time)

Steph said...

Gotta disagree on the watermelon and frappucinos, and I'm kinda in the middle on iPods (I have one but never use it). But I definitely agree with Great lash mascara. Yeah it's good if you like goo on your eyeball!

Trenches of Mommyhood said...

I agree with you on everything except PF Chang's lettuce wraps! Yum! And now I'm craving them...

do you have an iPod?? The boys slobbered in mine, and now it's broken ... I could cry!
