Way Back When-esday: Double Beds

Dateline: July 2005
Twins' Age: 3

Since their birth, Sarah and Darren have shared a room. Together for both nights and naps, the overheard conversations and camaraderie are the stuff of many happy memories. This fall, the kids move into their own individual (albeit small) rooms. How interesting it will be to see how things evolve...

Did they ask to get their own rooms? I am interested because I think I want to keep my b/g twins in the same room until they ask to be separated and people look at me like I have 6 eyes because they are different genders.

You know, Carrie, our two are now eight (nearly nine) and our daughter just started saying she'd like to have her own room. My sense is not so much because she doesn't like being with her brother, she very much does, but I think she wants total control of the decor! He is semi-excited to have his own, but I think more because she is acting so motivated.

I think they will REALLY miss the late night giggles, stormy night support, and morning talks. We'll see....

Do what you think will work for your family...from one six-eyed mom of boy/girl twins to another! ;)

OMGosh! I can just imagine how strange that is going to be for them to suddenly have their own rooms. But also, how fun for them to have their own space :)

LOVE seeing the flash-back photo of them in their toddler beds .

I think you will often find them in the same room in the morning but never during the day!!!

So cute! I'm glad to hear that you didn't rush them into their own rooms...my kids don't seem to mind sharing a room, so I'm not going crazy about it. I love putting them to bed together and being able to do our family squeezes. It's nice to know that I can still do that for a while. Cute picture...I'm petrified of releasing them from their cribs.

Please keep us posted - I have wondered if the girls will ever want to be in different rooms when they get older.
Sweet slumbering siblings!

I'm wondering how long mine will want to stay together. They are really close, especially at bedtime.

So sweet in their little toddler beds. That's big stuff moving into their own rooms. They grow up way too fast, don't they?

Jacob and Sarah still share a room. Eventually, we'll probably flip flop Adam and Sarah so the boys can share a room and Sarah will have her own, but right now, things still work great to have them together and the younger one alone. I have no idea when we'll make that switch and whether Sarah will be happy to have her own room...or sad...we'll see. I'm sure it'll be a while before that change takes place.

Those beds are so cute. Hopefully the transition to their own rooms won't be too rocky.

Oooh - the big switch to separate rooms!! How exciting!!

We'll swap Maggie and Logan at some point, but neither seem too motivated to do so right now. Poor Burke will never experience his own room - we just don't have the space.

I love pictures of sleeping kids :) So peaceful!

They look so adorable in their little beds. Can't wait to find out how things go as you make the switch! Looks like all MoMs will come to this point sometime!
