Safire, they are McCain's Smiley Fries! A local restaurant used to serve the with Kids' Meals...and we all liked 'em---kind of crunchy on the outside, kind of like a small dose of mashed potatoes on the inside. http://www.mccainfoodservice.co.uk/classics/product/?cid=125
