Last year, on Melanoma Monday (the first Monday in May each year), Mr. L and I were at the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer at UVA having Scott's port placed.
The next day, we began his first week of his first cycle of IL-2 treatment...
This year, on Melanoma Monday, my man, our twins' Daddy, has NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE.
Tumors in his lungs are dormant. He is healthy.
On this day in particular, we are so abundantly grateful for:
The incredible research of Dr. Steven Rosenberg at the National Cancer Institute at NIH
The superlative treatment administered by our incomparable oncologist, Dr. William Grosh at UVA
The caregiving nurses of 8-West at UVA
Our assistant minister Kim Crowley and her husband Chris for caring for our twins and Larry in our home so lovingly for four weeks of intensive treatment
The unflagging support, love and prayers of family and friends
The difficult to articulate but daily-perceptible grace of God
My love has been dealing with melanoma since 2005.
Today, nearly eight years later, he is cancer-free.
Today, this Melanoma Monday, let's support research that continues to offer curing options to those working so diligently to help families affected by melanoma.
"Scott Lage, you learned you're cancer-free. What did you do next?"
