Finished for Friday: The King's Cache

Despite the fact Elvis is presiding over the impressive library of pregnancy and parenting tomes, the collection actually belongs to me. Yes, I need quite a bit of help in raising my kids, but to clarify, the books are not ones I've gone out and intentionally purchased. For a few years now, I've been blessed to serve as a work-from-home contracted writer/editor for a group of parenting sites -- and as such, regularly scan/screen/review/excerpt from the latest and greatest child rearing books out there...receiving them regularly from authors, publishers and publicists.

Until this past week, these books were all over our home. In ever-growing stacks in the dining room. In piles on the office floor. On coffee tables and flat surfaces everywhere. Seriously, so many books about pregnancy and parenting were overtaking our abode, that anyone entering our home was subjected to a mini-disclaimer that no, I'm not pregnant and while I am far from perfect as a parent, these texts aren't consulted each and every day from a sense sheer desperation. (They have come in handy a few times though, I must admit...)

Now, thanks to the shelf-building beneficence of Double Daddy and the leg work (up and down stairs repeatedly) of Sarah and Darren, all of the books are now consolidated in one location.

As Elvis might sing, "That's all right, Mama."

Now go over and see what other productivity has come to pass by visiting Three Under Two's Lit and Laundry!

Ahhhh.

Doesn't it feel good to finish a project like that? My goal for this weekend is to get my dining room back into dining room form. And not impromptu storage/sewing/miscellaneous crap room. Hopefully in time for Turkey.

oh, man! We talked about coveting in Bible study this week, but I'm having a hard time not coveting those book shelves! I LOVE books, especially parenting books! Is that wierd?

So, so pretty:)

OMG I too have so many parenting books around my home. I ran out of bookshelf space for all of them. I am currently looking for another one for my 4 yr old. He has changed so much with his behavior here lately. Maybe the new sibling approaching??...not sure. He is displaying alot of stubborness and defiance. He's had these traits before but when we discipline him he usually buckles and does what we tell him to but not lately. He's always been a good kid and wanted to do what is right. Now, He would rather go to bed then listen to us. It's so agrivating.

I love Elvis. I've always had a crush on him. I think the poster is great. Have a great day

Yeah it stinks...I can't eat or drink what I want right now. I am seriously going to suffer on Thanksgiving day. One of my favorite eating days. But you will be happy to know I have been very good at sticking to the diet they gave me and my insulin. But I can gaurentee once she is born I am going to have a nice cup of coffee with my favorite coffee creamer which has tons of sugar in it. French Vanilla International Delight. I am dreaming of the day it will be here. hehehe!

As Elvis would say, "That's alright, Mama." Tee hee. I crack myself up.

Cool job, and well done on the organization.

I love that Elvis is watching over your books. And, how nice to get them all organized!

A large cardboard Elvis is yet another proof that you are raising your children up right! You're inspiring me to clean up my piles and get my review books in order!

I've got bookshelf/organization envy. Way to rally the family - cooperation is KEY! :)

Wow! Great job getting those so beautifully organized!

I had a ton of parenting books - and no real excuse because I did buy them for myself. I learned that my school library had a parenting section that was woefully out of date. They were so thrilled to receive my donated books for other parents to read. I now consider it my off-site storage area.

Thanks for joining in on Finished for Friday! Perfect example of a project.

Not sure how I found my way to your blog (my father is a twin), but glad I did! The Elvis picture brought a smile to my face - reminded me of the time my husband and I had our vows renewed in Las Vegas our RV with Elvis officiating.
