Getting to know all about yule...
Since this quiz has floating the past few days through the email world, thought it'd be worth getting to know all of "yule" a little bit better by making it a merry meme!
1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Usually paper...but not bag averse.
2. Real tree or Artificial? Real -- and since Double Daddy used to work as a shaper at a Christmas tree farm in his youth, he is highly particular. We used to spend hours on the hunt, and often came home without anything strapped to the top of the car. Thankfully, in recent years, we've discovered an equally meticulous tree farmer, and get one from him annually. [He also happens to be a twin dad!]
3. When do you put up the tree? Usually just a couple of weeks before Christmas.
4. When do you take the tree down? No later than February 1st.
5. Do you like eggnog? So much so I just added it to the grocery list.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? Pong!
7. Hardest person to buy for? My mother
8. Easiest person(s) to buy for? Darren and Sarah
9. Do you have a nativity scene? Indeed, fondly referred to as "The Jesus People."
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail
11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Don’t remember anything completely awful
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? "It's a Wonderful Life" ("The Ref" is another less-orthodox favorite.)
13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Ummm, is tomorrow an acceptable answer?
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? Absolutely, and I hope if others weren't too keen on their gift from me, they'd do the same.
15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? Cookies -- lots and lots of cookies
16. Lights on the tree? All white, although we've received a request for multi-color this year. TBD.
17. Favorite Christmas song? O Holy Night and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus.
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? Home for the day, travel to see family for an annual Lagefest meet-up later.
19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Absolutely, but I still get irritated with the Donner vs. Donder debate.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Angel
21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? One on Eve, rest on Day.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year. Feeling behind
23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Partial to gingerbread people...and anything the kids have made.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? A re-run of Thanksgiving: Turkey, stuffing, the works.
25. What do you want for Christmas this year? At the risk of sounding like a pageant contestant, peace...at least for the season.
Okay, consider the snowball thrown your way! Either copy and modify the above adding your answers in the comments, or do your own post and let me know via a comment so I (and others) can go learn more about "Yule" and your holiday celebrations!
[Funny side note: Our surname is pronounced "Loggy" with a hard "G." One of our funny prospective names for a baby in utero was Yul Lage...along with Pecan, Bumpona and others. The word "Yule" brings happy memories on many levels.]

i haven't started shopping yet either...oops!
Try the multi colored lights! I loooooove mine!
Fun! I think I'll do it...
I'm happy to know the correct pronunciation of your last name, Mrs. Lage. :)
HAHAH! Yul Lage. Cute. :)
I'm in! I'll have it posted soon...
We are lacking in fun last name-ishness, but have definitely considered the middle name of "Danger" so that said child could always proclaim "Hah! My middle name is Danger!" The dilemma then, is the first name, though.
Fearno?
Runfrom...?
So many choices...
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
Pong.
Now that's classic.
Recycling gifts... Ah, we are a little TOO familiar with this. We do it an absurd amount (shhh! don't tell!)
# 12 & # 17 ...me too!
We also get a real tree and used to hunt and hunt as you described, but now we have gotten lazier and just go and get what the boy scouts are selling. (atleast it's a good cause)
Great list! I sure enjoyed getting to know 'yule' a little better!
I love how you mention the tree farmer is a 'twin' dad as well... we have encountered a couple other twins or twin parents and we frequent their business more it seems!
guess it is the kindred spirit that draws us in! :)
I love your story about your husband being really particular about his Christmas tree and then finding a Christmas tree farmer who is also, and that he is a dad of twins as well! Too funny!
Thanks for doing this:) I had lots of fun reading it!
I'm working on my version of it right now, will post a reply here when it's posted on my blog! What fun! :)
Good luck picking out just the right tree this year! I think it's awesome that the tree farmer also has twins....how neat!
