Liner Notes from the Lage Twins: Wee Hairy Beasties - Holidays Gone Crazy

Darren says: "This is five-star music. My favorite is 'Yellow Snow PSA'. There's a funny picture on the back CD illustrating it. The art is good on the case, and the songs are very funny. Song number 12, 'The Lonely Vampire' is awesome. My favorite characters are Jon, Tom and Joel. I'd give this CD an 'A'."

Sarah says: "I'm satisfied with this CD. 'Tummy Trouble PSA' makes me laugh. It's kind of funny because they are talking about throw up. 'Dinosaur Christmas' is a silly song. You can listen to it all year. It's an 'A'."

Mama says: "Certainly not a traditional holiday music CD for kids, the Wee Hairy Beasties' Holidays Gone Crazy is a current family favorite in our minivan music library. The most frequently requested songs (always referred to by their cut number visible from the backseat boosters) are #5 'Dinosaur Christmas' and #12 'The Lonely Vampire.' My personal favorites are # 8 'Wee Scary Beasties' and the Celtic-sounding #11 'Bury Me in the Sand.' The PSAs interspersed throughout the CD are amusing, occasionally genuinely informative, but very, very brief. Don't know that I'd necessarily feature them as full-on songs; but they are well produced and add fun to the 10 more substantial selections.

In my maternal stickler mode, the use of intentionally incorrect grammar ("Ain't" sticks in memory) does bother me somewhat. Just now when asking the kids which song has "Ain't" in it to see if they could recall it, they both sang the offending line readily. Although Sarah defended the usage with 'If you used "isn't" it wouldn't sound right in the song. They really didn't have a choice.' She has a point. Mama gives Wee Hairy Beasties' Holidays Gone Crazy a solid B."

Sounds interesting! I am like you, willing to buy it for the kids as long as it's not offensive, but hate when the grammar is incorrect. UGH!
