Let Me Call You...

After lunch, as Scott punitively removes the Leapster from Sarah's hands...

Sarah: "Daddy!"

Scott: "I asked you to put your dishes in the sink, and that's not the sink."

Sarah: "My dishes are in the sink!"

Scott: "These aren't your dishes on the counter?"

Sarah: "No, those are Darren's."

Scott (Giving back the Leapster): "Oh, I'm so sorry, Sweetheart."

Sarah (beaming): "You have never called me 'Sweetheart' before in my whole life."

Mommy: "Do you like being called 'Sweetheart'?"

Sarah (still smiling broadly): "Yes I do."

Scott (beaming back): "That's good to know. I'll remember it. Thanks for telling me you like it."

So later in life..when Sarah is being courted by men of all shapes and sizes...it truly will be the one that says "Let me call you Sweetheart" who will win her over.
Nice.

Now she'll always remember the first time she was called Sweetheart by her daddy! (even if there was unvalidated Leapster requisition involved.....)

Blessings!

Awww...how sweet!! I was always my Dad's "Princess" and loved being called that for a long time. I love it now when I can find a card for him that has some reference to that still :-)

I love when parents can say "I'm sorry" to kids. I think it teaches them so many valuable lessons. WTG Scott!

And, she is a sweetheart!

I'll play along in the morning. :)
