The Truth Shall Set You Free...

Overheard lately at the Lage house...

Darren (looking at his new Albino Animals book):
"Can we get an albino hedgehog? It says right here they're not prickly." [For some reason, I tend to think he'd still prefer that long-desired dog...]

Sarah (at the breakfast table): "I'm very, very cross."
[Can you tell we'd recently watched Mary Poppins?]

Darren (after sleeping late Daddy with a severe cold descended the stairs):
"You really should put on a cap."

...and last, but not least, preceding my Friday night departure for book club...

Darren: "I love you, Mommy."

Mommy: "Thank you, Hon. I love you, too."

Darren: "You are the very best, Mom."

Mommy: "Thank you, Sweetie. I think you are the very best boy."

Darren: "So, that shirt really doesn't look so good on you."

So did -- or did I not -- change? You make the call....

Such honesty, from such sweet little faces....

I say you did! Those are adorable! My son is always looking at my hair, so I know he's going to be the one that tells me that something is out of place...figures!

I guess that you changed shirts. I love that she used the word "cross". She is definitely a smart girl! And Darren should go with a regular ol' dog. Great conversations!

The age of total honesty! Sometimes it can be funny, sometimes it can be alarming, and sometimes it can be down right embarassing! (like when it comes out in the middle of the grocery store pointing out a "jiggly butt" on the woman walking past. . .yep, been there, done that!)

But hey, you're raising one fine little man there! HE praised you up and down before telling you that something was wrong!! Way to go!!! lol

your kids are awesome. I dont want to even think of how Hunter will be when he gets older because he already critics my wardrobe. When we are at the store looking at clothes he will tell me what he likes and doesnt like if I ask. And sometimes if I dont ask

I'm guessing you wore the shirt for a while but changed it before you had to pick him up from school or go in public.

Ps, was he right?

Your kids just crack me right up. Too funny.

I say you changed but I can tell you I would not have because I don't have the energy or the care to change in the evening. I am always in my sweats by then..and I am NO fashion gal - so I would have gone as is.

But I do love the honesty!
Such a cute, cute conversation...LOL!!!

haha! I'm guessing you changed and maybe sought out his opinion on what to wear instead! haha!

At least he softened the blow a bit by telling you how much he loved you first! :-)

I think you left it on even though you seriously thought of changing. I mean you should have better fashion sense than your kids right? LOL

Also, my kids say cross all the time. And spit spot, and best foot forward, and every other thing Miss Poppins said in the movie.
