Hope: A Haiku

Four years to the week
Since Daddy's melanoma
Lump, nodes are swollen

Daddy's special day
Brought news we'd hoped not to hear
Scans do not look good

Hope springs eternal
Our doctors are fantastic
Friends and family, too

Could be something new
Yet surgery is a must
Husband is so brave

Whether an adult
or frightened eight-year-old child
Anxiety stinks

Haiku to announce
May seem a very poor choice
Gets my mind off it

Greedily I ask
If you are a praying kind
Please remember us.

We DO have all good reason for optimism...namely my husband's sense of humor, his sense of fight, his love of his children and me, and the knowledge that we're never alone, and have such reason for thankfulness. Treasuring each day...and know we'll have many, many more to come.

No no NO! That is not acceptable news at any time of year, birthday or none.

Super strong and healthy thoughts are being sent from here down to Virginia. I hope the surgery goes perfectly, and the recovery is quick, easy, and complete.

Hugs to all of you.

Cheryl, saying a prayer especially for your husband. I'm afraid God may be a little sick of hearing from me this week. It has been such a terrible week on so many levels.

Cheryl, I haven't popped over in a bit, but Lisa (Are we there yet?) mentioned needing prayers -- so I just want you to know I'm on it! :) I truly believe even the blogosphere is a wonderful place to find support, encouragement and prayers!

Hugs, honey!
