Necessary skill or no, technology will never suppress the attraction of the traditional spelling bee.
Reality TV reinforces the fact plenty of parents pursue their personal dreams and reactivate their youthful aspirations unattained via their progeny. While never consciously feeling the compulsion to instill cherished aspects of my childhood into Darren and Sarah, as a two-time first runner-up in my middle school spelling bee, I couldn't have been prouder to discover both He-Twin and She-Twin won their individual class bees, and would as a result represent their rooms in the schoolwide competition. An occasional opportunity for brotherly/sisterly competition and sibling support isn't such a bad thing either!

Congratulations! Boy, I'm jealous. I'm a terrible speller; my husband stinks, too, and are kids are right on our heels.
