Truth in Advertising

Regrettably, when it comes to commercials, intellectual dishonesty isn't uncommon. Over-exaggeration, undeserved superlatives and ill-founded hyperbole are all too commonplace. As a result, when slogans, catchphrases and and tag lines are proven resoundingly truthful, we are almost shocked at the flagrant  integrity.

Last weekend, after nearly eight full months sealed in an over-sized plastic trash bag, I finally mustered the courage to plow through the detritus "saved" from our Hurricane Irene-smote bedroom dresser. For those unfamiliar, here's how our bedroom looked 8 months ago...

In the bag, amidst the glass shards, branches, leaves, insulation and extensive varieties of mold, were found more salvageables than we'd dared hope for...including numerous watches belonging to Double Daddy and me.

The back plate was knocked off of a rectangular one. The dust and mold prohibited much movement  of the muck-coated bands on their pins. Then I noticed the two watches on the left...

While living in our relocation house we've both "fallen back" and "sprung forward" with Daylight Savings Time ritual.

Checking those two freshly extracted from the filth watches---their faces seeing the light of day for the first time in 2/3 of a year---their time was spot-on with the watch on my own wrist.

Timex, the both of them. They took a licking, and they kept on ticking.

Impressive advertising for an impressive product.
