Hanker for a Hunka...

Cheese. Chuck E. Cheese. The not-so-secret-agent to birthday party success.

Unlike many parents -- or maybe I'm just crazy enough to admit it -- I adore Chuck E. Cheese.

The automoton birthday band, the sound of the tokens being dispensed (as close to Vegas as I'll get for a while...), the bottomless cup of Diet Coke, the irrepressible glee of the privileged party guests' faces...all add up to me being one happy mama. As a matter of fact, from the moment the invitation is received, my currency for effective correction/behavior modification is immediately redetermined, and far more effective. For example, "If you keep licking your sister's marker while she's drawing, you're not going to L's party." We had dry markers for days.

Friday's festivities were particularly poignant. The honoree turning 6 has been a friend of our twins' since his birth, a mere 10 months after their own. It was abundantly clear that beyond the roller coaster simulators...
Beyond the pedal-power elevating balloons...

More touching than the posed photos overly sentimental mamas stage...

...the most-heartwarming moments are those we just happen to capture when you're relishing some celebratory time with a true and lifelong friend.

I am guessing your Chuck E Cheese doesn't have a guard with a gun walking around it and gang members with their kids running wild liek the one in Sacramento does.

Oh I loved that last pic of the kids laughing with their friend. Such a great moment.

My 12 year old would move into Chuck-e-cheese if I let him LOL.
