Sometimes Silence is Golden

In years past, if our typically decibel-dense household went suddenly silent, it was just cause for maternal alarm. This morning, after sending the kids upstairs post-breakfast to get ready for school, the daily squeals, laughter and tattles were surprisingly extinct. Figuring it wise, I went up to see the student-prep status.

Both children were huddled over Sarah's desk lamp-lit desk.

Today, I'm thankful...

Darren is such a strong speller, that he knows how to spell "remember," and that rather than withholding, he willingly shares the information with his sister for the paternal project good.

Sarah needs no specific occasion to be thoughtful, and joyfully uses her artistic gifts to cheer and touch others.

that with no offense intended to other fathers, I truly believe Double Daddy is "the best daddy ever."

PS - Conversation when the card was bestowed:
Daddy: "Am I really big and round like that, Sarah?"
Sarah: "It looks good on you."

Could you possibly have raised sweeter, more wonderful children? I think not.

Your kids are awesome. :) It's a testament to the parenting, no doubt.

And I laughed out loud at Sarah's comment hehehe I'll have to remember that line ;)

Cheryl,
This is such a sweet post. You must've "hit me" at the right time, because I am sitting here all teary-eyed.
I just LOVE the preciousness of kids and the loving ways they come up with to share it with us.

What a lovely story! I am sure my Ever so charming & delightful would have the same reaction to the "round daddy". Men can be so vain!
