What the H ---- ?

Whether attributable to my passion for Seuss, or to all those years of dictionary reading as a bored high-schooler, either way, alliterative opportunities are never lost on me.

Georgie, the darling host of Decisionally Challenged, posted her G-take on this letter-driven, ten-favorite things meme, and graciously bestowed me with a non-X or Z alphabetical assignment.

So without further ado, today's episode is presented by the letter H and the number 10:

HODAD'S
Featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, when we realized we'd be close enough to potentially catch a burger (not a wave, we're hodads after all) during our holiday trip, this lauded local joint went on our list. Wait = worth it. Service = awesome. Burgers = best I have EVER tasted. No joke.
HAND, HAND, FINGERS, THUMB by Al Perkins
Dum ditty dum ditty dum dum dum.

HALLMARK (and her sisters)
Greeting cards are my weakness. Buy 'em even when no occasion is necessarily pending.

HGTV
My favorite shows are the ones wherein the "before" version makes me feel less inadequate in the housekeeping department.

HONDA ODYSSEY
Dragged kicking and screaming minivan-ward, who knew I'd not only get used to our new Lagemobile, but actually like it? (Of course the fact that the passenger side sliding door is unusable is another story...)

HOLDING HANDS
At SeaWorld, I overheard a mom yelling to her 4-ish year-old "If you don't stay beside me, I'll make you hold my hand like a baby." Hmmm. Call me a baby if you will, but I like holding hands with my kids...and I trust, they with me. Naturally, I also like doing so with...

HUSBAND
He rocks. (In every sense of the word.)

HOT SHOWERS
When I was pregnant with Darren and Sarah, giving up the caffeine, wine and sushi wasn't all that horrific. The doctor-dictated cooling of my preferred skin-scalding showers was amongst the most challenging sacrifices. (worth it, of course)

HAS-BEENS
Only one episode has aired, and already I'm hooked on VH1's Confessions of a Teen Idol.

HOOTENANNY
Both the word (used in conversation) and the music by The Replacements. (The diminutive "hoot" also charms me.)
Are you game? Think you can come up with ten favorite things beginning with a letter of the alphabet you are arbitrarily assigned? Leave a comment sharing your favorite "H" thing, and I'll post a comment on your latest blog entry with your letter du jour!

Have a Happy One!

PS - Housework, humidity and hemorrhoids did not make the cut...

My favorite H thing.... Hairbows. I love to make Hairbows for my little girl. (There is probably something else that starts with H that I love more but I can't for the life of me think of anything else that starts with H)

I saw Hodad's on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives when I was pregnant with the twins and I craved it for MONTHS. Sadly we still have yet to have gone (they twins are now almost 9 months and we live an hour and a half away from San Diego.) Maybe someday.

Hootenanny is a word we need to use more often. Thanks for reminding me. And HGTV and Honda Odyssey - I'm right there with you.

Hot diggety dog!

I taught some Korean folks to say that and they thought it was the funniest thing they had ever heard. And, coming from them, so did I. They taught me to say a bunch of stuff too. I don't know what it was, but I bet it wasn't as clean.

Count me in!

Oh, how fun!!!

One of my favorite "H" things? The obvious one would be "husbandly help", but I could also say Hall & Oates. Saw 'em in concert the year before I got pregnant, and almost wanted to name our daughter "Sarah" because of one of their more popular songs.

Oh, wait...Sarah?

Great list. I'm sitting here mulling over every 'h' word I know, I'm staring at my desk, but guess what my brain is fried and guess what I can see: gold shoes, water, paper, lotion, keys, fork, .... ooh ooh, I've got it, my hat. You know the one in my profile pic. It's here, sitting next to me. I love that hat.

WTH or What the Helen is my nickname, so I appreciated your blog title. (It is also my joke of a reality show, my show would be called "What the Helen".

Goddess in Progress has bestowed "B" upon me, so I'm giving this a shot!
