If You Don't Inhale...

In the car, with the whole family on the way home from tag-teaming Lowe's and Walmart and passing a smoking pedestrian...

Sarah
(matter-of-factly): "You know, I don't think I will ever try smoking a cigarette..."

Mommy: "Good for you, Sarah. Cigarettes are terrible for you."

Sarah (continuing her mother-interrupted sentence): "...because I bet if I try it once, I'll want to do it over and over and over."

***Pindrop silence, permeated with palpable parental concern***

Sarah
(sensing the discomfort): "Maybe I'll do candy cigarettes."

Darren: "Yeah, well too much candy is an awful habit, too."

So pick a vice, any vice...

Too funny! Love your kids' conversations! They make my mornings!
Emma informed everyone the other day that she is just going to eat cupcake icing not the cupcake because it is the cupcake that gives her a bellyache!

how funny. what hilarious conversations you have with your kiddos.

(ps...I am always mumbling something under my breath as I walk passed someone smoking too close to the door I have to walk through, such as, "i really wish people would keep their carcinogens to themselves." It really embarrasses my husband, haha)

Do they still make candy cigarettes? They gave them out at school when I was four and I took mine back to the teacher and told her my mom said cigarettes were bad! She told me they were just candy, but I've always wondered if it's a good idea to make candy and toy versions of things we don't want our kids to have in real life.

What a cute story!!! I love the thoughts and ideas that stem from little ones! Never know what they're thinking or about to say! So much fun!

So cute! I love when people take the time to really listen to their kids. They say the funniest stuff.

Just the other day a student in my class while pretending, says "You'll never take me alive, Chopper"

I have no idea what he was doing,(playing with pencils and erasers) but I think I laughed uncontrollably for 10 whole minutes. He kept looking at me like 'what was so funny?'
