Makes My Monday: Broccoli Cheddar and My Blue-Eyed Boy

In temperatures surely bordering upon those in Hell's attic (or is Hell's basement hotter? Doesn't heat rise? But I digress...), Darren donned his do-bo (tae kwon do uniform) and demonstrated his red belt with black stripe forms in yellow-tip earning style....with a smile.

Figured dutiful Darren deserved a lunch of his choosing to celebrate. What did He-Twin select from the menu on a 100-degree plus afternoon? Steaming broccoli cheddar soup (with a baguette, so continental!) from Panera Bread.

Knowing He-Twin can stand by his choices and avoid the easy out or common complaint ("It's too hot for tae kwon do!" "Soup? In the summer?") Makes My Monday.

And he is a lucky boy to have a mom that recognizes those good little things that make up his greatness.

Congrats to him on the red belt!

And my favorite... Mmmmm broccoli soup. YUM! (although, lik you, I can't eat it in 100+ degree summer...)

Phew . we're a lot alike, you and I. First thing I thought was ... "Hot steamy soup??"

Good for you, for letting him make his own choices. He obviously LOVED it!

I see absolutely nothing wrong with chili...and the like...during the summer. I rationalize that's what air conditioning is for! :)

That soup is my son's favorite and we have been there several times over this very hot summer. It makes me happy that he requests this over McD.
