Way Back When-esday: Boys and Girls are Different

Dateline: Spring 2007
Twins' Age: 5

Parental and educator attempts to maintain gender neutrality assuming childhood tabulae rasae seem largely futile when confronted with a photo like the above.

The three girls recoil when confronted with a less-than-lovely/non-Nemo beast from the deep. The three boys? Behold their irrepressible delight.

Suppose it could be argued we've already impressed upon our offspring our expected/projected behaviors by age 5; after all, seems I'm the one who unwittingly dressed her boy-girl twins in blue and pink!

Not knowing whether this image reflects nature or nurture warms my heart this mid-week!

Play along with Way Back When-esday.

My kids tell me who wears what colors. If I try to dress the baby girl in brown I get hell!

So typical! I do think that it is a pack thing too - packs of girls giggle, gross out , whatever together

I'm much older than 5 and still have the same reaction.
