Makes My Monday: The Umpire Says....

"...and they're SAFE!"

Without too much detail, we were all downstairs---thank God (quite literally!)---when Hurricane Irene caught the top foliage of our heretofore-beloved "Smiley Tree" and brought her down through our house.

All Lages, Double Daddy, Mommy, He-Twin, She-Twin and Larry Dog evacuated to dear neighbors' home across the street where we spent the night. Now, we're staying with yet other dear, dear friends until some long-term, temporary (is that an oxymoron?) housing is determined.

The kindness of so very many, the love and lives of my family, and a house that can be rebuilt Make My Monday.

Feel free to play along/link-up with Makes My Monday!

[I apologize in advance for what will be limited reciprocal comments and posts in the next few days. Be sure and visit other MMM participants and be thankful this new week....I know I am!]

Oh my goodness, Cheryl! God certainly was looking out for all of you, that could have been so much worse. I love the positive spin you've put in this very inconvenient situation.

Isn't it so wonderful to have dear friends to turn to in times like this?! Such an immense gift and blessing!

I'm sure you're sad to lose "Smiley Tree" he looks like a dear old tree with lots of character and stories to tell.

Blessings!

So glad that everyone is ok! We had damage similar to this last summer when we had big storms hit.

Oh dear.
Anything I could possibly have said would be too much in this situation. I'm so dreadfully sorry about your house and your beloved tree, and so thankful you're OK!
I'll be praying for your situation!
Love,

I saw the photo and my heart lurched ... thank goodness you're all safe.

I know you have a lot to sort through, but years from now imagine the stories you will be able to tell about Hurricane Irene.

Really, though, glad to hear you're all okay.

Sending prayers your way.

Oh my! I am happy to hear that you and your family are safe and you have friends you can stay with until you figure something out. I'm so sorry for the destruction of your house. Even though it's just a house it's still pretty devastating to have your life turned upside down!Praying for you and your family.

So glad you are all safe! This is just awful, but it's a good thing that noone was hurt, except Mr. Smiley Tree :( Thinking of you and your family and hoping you get settled quickly.

Oh, my word! That is awful and amazing at the same time. We had all those tornados around here a few months back and saw a lot of that same exact thing, but it still makes me catch my breath! I am so glad you guys were safe!

I love you for being able to see the positive in this. Only you could post a "makes my Monday" post with your house shattered by a tree. You are my hero. Hugs to the whole family and prayers for a good insurance settlement and a speedy rebuild and return to your beautiful house!

OMG this is so real. YIKES. And Here I was praising the fact Irene wasn't as bad as she could have been yet she put her wrath on such a wonderful family. I am so sorry for your inconvenience and any loss that occurs because of it, I will also say that knowing this super family you all will come out with flying colors and stronger for it all. My thoughts are with you!

I'm so glad you guys are OK. I'm sorry about your house. I'm sure it is so hard to see it broken. I hope the rebuild is quick and that everything goes smoothly.

Oh my gosh!! I live in Houston and when we had hurricane Ike a few years ago, we have lots of tall pine trees in a lot of parts of the city (though not mine) and my dad lives in one of those areas. He said he never again would stay through a hurricane because of all the tall trees that got knocked down and he didn't want to be in his house when one came crashing down on it. Glad you are all okay!

I don't know how I would have reacted if this had happened to me, but I guess you just roll with it. I'll be praying for you and yours.
