The Headliner

The previous post demonstrates He-Twin apple doesn't fall far from his hilarious Double Dad tree. Here, the proof extracted from the pudding.

Mid-hug, after Scott stayed home from work to nurse a strep-throat stricken---and heartbroken as she had to miss a long-awaited Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day---She-Twin...

Mommy: "I love you."

Daddy: "You're welcome."

Mommy: "How did you know I was about to thank you? Are you that smart...or am I that predictable?"

Daddy: "Your predictability makes me look smarter*."

[*Insert rim shot here.]

He'll Be Here All Week...

Darren: "What's the difference between roast beef and pea soup?"

Grandpa Lage: "I don't know, what?"

Darren: "Anyone can roast beef, but nobody can pea soup!"

Way Back When-esday: Uno Duo

Dateline: Spring 2007
Twins' Age: 5

One of the many benefits of having twins? Easier to play card and board games by virtue of multiple players!
(Granted, it took a while for them to be able to hold a fan of cards in their hands...)

Our couple of cute card-players warm my mid-week!

C'mon....play along with Way Back When-esday!

By The Sea

Tasked with creating "Seascapes" in their respective art classes (hooray for our public school!), our two created the images below:
Sociological study time!

Venture a guess as to which was done by He-Twin and which was done by She-Twin in the comments.

[In exchange for your indulgence, Random.org will select a winner from amongst the correct guessers to receive a $5 Starbucks giftcard. ]

The Man in the Mirror

While Double Daddy pumped a $60+ tankful gas, this sweet face was peeking at me in the passenger side-view. Seems like only yesterday I was monitoring this very same He-Twin and his She-Twin in a centrally placed Elmo mirror---while they faced rear-ward in their heavily fortified, 5-point protective carseats.

The speedy maturation of objects in the mirror may be closer than it appears.

Way Back When-esday: Tunnel of Love

Dateline: April 2005
Twins' Age: 3

Think most of us who are twin parents have a treasured, iconic image of both babies sharing a single bucket swing. Memories of a tandem trip down the tunnel slide warm my heart this mid-week.

Makes My Monday: Sister Christian

Oh, the time had come. After weeks of dutiful study and intimate discussion on what it means to be a Christian, on Palm Sunday, Sarah stood before family, friends and God and declared she's going for it!
She-Twin's spiritual searching and subsequent sincerity Make My Monday.

Also making my Monday? From 2004 - 2007 (when Twinfatuation began), I administered/hosted a twin parenting site, Twinsights.com. On that site, we featured weekly "Twins of the Week," highlighted news stories related to twins and twin parenting, fielded reader submitted questions, and did reviews via a Double Baby Book Club. Many of those former facets are going to be incorporated into the sub-pages here at Twinfatuation! In the coming days, be sure to pop around!

Hopes and Dreams

Tasked with creating mobiles strung with their hopes and dreams, the twins' descriptions of their desires ran the gamut.

Naturally, there were the tangibles: He-Twin's "A Million Bucks" and She-Twin's "iPod Touch." Then, there were some surprises.

She-Twin's ambition ("I win American Idol") and her altruism ("To help animals")...

He-Twin's hunger ("Bucket of Chicken") and craving for comfort ("A pillow to fall on")...

One for universal aspiration...
What would YOUR mobile mention?

Leave a comment, and let me know.
(Truly, I would love to share some of your hopes and dreams with our twins...so don't be shy. Please chime in!)

Way Back When-esday: The Essence of Three

Dateline: April 2005
Twins' Age: 3

The Veggie Tales Bob and Larry tee shirts. The Sesame Street placemats. The fruit being eaten with toddler-sized forks. The My Little Pony (if memory serves, it was SeaSpray) awaiting the completion of She-Twin's snack to resume play. The high chair (one of two, the other out of frame) behind He-Twin...freshly abandoned for boosters in "big table" seats. Expressions that are impossible to interpret, but bring a smile to their mom's face, six years later.

A fully fleshed glimpse of an everyday moment at age three---times two---warms my heart this Way Back When-esday.

C'mon....play along with Way Back When-esday!

Makes My Monday: Bananas Are Fun

Bananagrams was a stocking stuffer. As it is with some such fillers, the bright yellow-zippered sack stuffed with Scrabble-esque single-letter tiles had not moved from our coffee table since Christmas day. Dubbed a "banana hammock" by Double Daddy, we finally decided to give the game a go Saturday while Sarah had an out-of-house playdate.

He-Twin's wizardry with words, and his furry footstool, Make My Monday.

Semi-Spiritual Sunday Snippet: The Nature of God

In the car...

Sarah: "Do you think __________ (name of peer) is pretty?"

Mommy: "I think she is very cute."

Sarah (disgruntled): "But do you think she's pretty."

Mommy (sad she's already delineating between the two descriptors): "Yes, I do think she's pretty; but you know who I think is the very prettiest girl."

Sarah (aware of my maternal bias): "I wonder who God thinks is the prettiest girl."

Darren (with full conviction, and eager to squelch the discourse): "God isn't judgmental."

Wisdom from the back seat...

Strike a Pose

Twins' school picture day
Each had a strong idea
Of what they would wear

Before the third grade
A bath would be prep enough
Not quite so this year

He-Twin wore a tie
She-Twin, a knit dress and boots
Couple of cute hams!
*Composed in the Bad Haiku Friday tradition begun by the lovely Laura of Catholic Teacher Musings (currently on blogging hiatus, and much-missed). Finished for Friday is our twosome's third grade class photo shoot...play along with the ever-talented ThreeUnder at Lit and Laundry!

The Sleepover Schedule: Unabridged

To think I thought the short-list was entertaining! Apparently, that version was simply the Cliff's Notes for the pluperfect party plan:
Again, names have been eliminated to protect innocent identities---because yes, at 9, you can be "hot boy," and retain your anonymity in the blogosphere. [Pickles---the host family's dog---is okay with her name "out there."]
